I’m excited to share that I’ll be speaking at the YOU X AI Conference coming to Waco, Texas on September 12th. As one of the speakers, I’ll be diving into how creatives can effectively use AI in their everyday lives, and I’m especially passionate about sharing how I use it as a storyteller, creator, and community leader.
Like many of you, I wear a lot of hats throughout the week. And if I’m being honest, AI has become one of the tools that helps me stay grounded. It has enhanced my communication, helped me organize my thoughts, and allowed me to structure my days in a way that keeps me from feeling completely drained by the end of the week.
But for today, I want to focus on one specific area: how you can use AI to help you write your book, strategically, effectively, and without losing your authenticity.
Let’s break it down.
1. AI Helps You Brainstorm and Organize Your Ideas
Most of us don’t struggle with having ideas, we struggle with organizing them. Our thoughts are often scattered, layered, and sometimes overwhelming.
AI can help you take those thoughts and turn them into structure. You can use it to generate potential book titles and subtitles, organize chapters and sections, and narrow down key themes and messages.
Instead of staring at a blank page, you’re starting with direction. And that alone can save you time and mental energy.
2. AI Helps You Refine Your Story, Not Replace It
Let’s be clear: your story is your story. AI is not here to replace your voice, it’s here to support it.
You can input your own writing, your own experiences, your own stories, and ask AI to help you improve flow and clarity, strengthen transitions, and maintain consistency in tone.
The key is this: you are still the author. AI simply helps you say what you already feel, more clearly and more effectively.
You do not have to sound robotic. In fact, you shouldn’t. When used correctly, AI helps amplify your voice, not erase it.
3. AI Helps with Formatting Your Book
Formatting can be one of the most time-consuming parts of writing a book.
AI can assist with structuring chapters properly, organizing headings and subheadings, and creating outlines that align with your vision.
This allows you to focus more on your message and less on the technical setup.
4. AI Assists with Editing and Proofreading
Once your content is written, AI becomes a powerful editing tool.
It can help you catch grammar and punctuation errors, improve sentence structure, and identify areas that may need clarity.
But here’s the important part, you still need to review your work.
AI is not human. It doesn’t fully understand context, emotion, or intention the way you do.
What We Are NOT Doing with AI
Let’s set some boundaries.
We are not using AI to completely write our books for us, copying or pulling in other people’s content, or replacing our creativity with shortcuts.
We are using AI as a tool to enhance what we have already created.
Your voice, your research, your lived experiences, those are the foundation. AI simply helps you refine them.
Final Thoughts
AI is a powerful tool. It can save you time, reduce overwhelm, and help you move from idea to execution faster than ever before.
But it is not a replacement for your creativity.
Use it wisely. Use it intentionally. And most importantly, stay true to your voice.
And just so we’re being transparent…
Yes, I used AI to help refine this blog post.
And that’s exactly the point.
