Every summer, something shifts.
The pace slows down just enough for us to finally hear ourselves think. The routines change. The noise quiets. And somewhere in that space, a thought keeps tapping on your shoulder:
“I should write my book.”
Let me tell you something…
That thought didn’t come to you by accident.
There are stories inside of you that are meant to be written. Experiences that could heal someone. Lessons that could guide someone. Words that could outlive you in the most beautiful way.
And yet—year after year—so many people push it off.
“Maybe next summer.”
“When things slow down.”
“When I have more time.”
But here’s the truth I’ve learned after working with authors for nearly 20 years:
You don’t find time to write a book. You decide to.
What If This Summer Was Different?
What if you made one decision:
“By the end of this summer, I will have a completed manuscript.”
Not perfect.
Not published (yet).
But finished.
Because finished changes everything.
Finished means you stopped just thinking about it and started honoring it.
Finished means you moved from “one day” to “day one.”
Finished means your story now has somewhere to go.
Let’s Make It Practical (Because Dreams Need Structure)
You don’t need 8 hours a day.
You need consistency.
If you wrote:
- 500 words a day
- 5 days a week
By the end of 12 weeks (a summer), you’d have 30,000 words.
That’s a book.
Read that again.
That’s a book.
Give Yourself Permission to Write It Messy
Some of you aren’t writing because you’re trying to write it perfectly the first time.
Let me free you:
Your first draft is not your final draft.
It’s not supposed to be polished.
It’s not supposed to be pretty.
It’s supposed to be written.
We can edit later.
We can refine later.
We can build later.
But we cannot improve what does not exist.
Your Story Still Matters
I know some of you are thinking:
“Who would read my story?”
“Is it even good enough?”
“Does it really matter?”
And I want to say this clearly:
Yes. It does.
Because there is someone out there who needs your exact voice.
Your exact perspective.
Your exact journey.
Not a perfect version of it—your version of it.
Here’s Your Summer Challenge
I want you to do something bold.
Decide today:
- What your book is about
- How many days a week you’ll write
- What time of day you’ll commit
Then write.
Even when you don’t feel like it.
Even when it’s inconvenient.
Even when the words come out slow.
Because discipline will carry you where motivation cannot.
And When Summer Ends…
You won’t just have an idea.
You’ll have a manuscript.
Something tangible.
Something real.
Something that started as a thought—and became a legacy.
If you’ve been waiting for a sign…
This is it.
Write the book. Finish the manuscript. Let this be the summer you stop talking about it—and actually do it.
And when you’re ready for the next step…
You already know I’m here to help you bring it to life.
