This week, I focused on my spaces and what they allow me to do and realized I needed a writing area. I would write on my bed or the couch… anywhere I could. But I realized that only gave me the option to write. I decided my dream would no longer be an option, so I spent the week rearranging my room to create this space for myself.
Why is this important? After making room for my space, I experienced a significant change in my writing habits. When I am sitting at my computer with my twinkle light on with my little avocado stuffed plushy, I feel a sense of peace wash over me. Like it is just me and the words. After I showed my boyfriend my writing space, he told me it looked like it came from a fantasy story. I laughed, but he was right. I decorated my room to reflect what I wrote, which benefitted me. It made it easier to talk with my characters and immerse myself in their world. Your writing space should do just that. It should make your writing feel like magic is being created with every word typed.
Now, what can go in your writing space? Well, that is all up to you, my friend. I’m a sucker for sunflowers and greenery, so I added them to the wall. I have a box on the side for my writing material, and a whiteboard and camera stand stored on the side for my video content. Of course, I can’t forget my avocado plushy that I love so much. The great thing about your writing space is that it is entirely yours. You control what you put in it and what you leave out. How will you create your own unique writing space?
